5 New Spots in Lausanne this Season

November 15, 2022

The restaurant scene just keeps getting better and better. Here are 5 new spots (or new and improved spots) to add to your radar here in Lausanne this season:

Pitaya

Advertised as “Thai street food”, this French-based chain has chosen Lausanne as the first Swiss location and is the equivalent of fast food with fresh Thai flavors. Conveniently located on Rue Enning (just next to Bleu Lezard), it’s a great spot for a quick bite sur place or takeaway. While the bowls are generous and freshly made to order, we noticed that the spice levels were nonexistent and perhaps catered to a cautious customer. So either ask for some heat or pack your own sauce 😉

La Parada

Originally the Brasserie de Moudon, this new Latin American restaurant plans to pay homage to the original location (a terminus for Lausanne’s tramway before it closed in 1963 ) while bringing a bit of fun and a lot of flavor to the Lausanne restaurant scene. With a well-seasoned trio at the helm (think La Pavillon, TicToc & Un Po’ di Più, and Auberge de Beaulieu) and an addition of a Swiss-Mexican head chef, this restaurant has thought through the smallest detail to bring a larger-than-life presence that Lausanne is ready for. They are now officially taking reservations.

Man'Ouchy

This Lebanese cult favorite isn’t new by any means but they have just renovated ensuring the in-dining experience is just as lovely as their food. What started as a food truck is now a full brick and mortar restaurant with a huge variety of flavorful and fresh dishes. Go with friends, order several plates to share.

Mexicana

You already know and love this restaurant from its cozy takeout location on Rue Central right next to Place Pepinet, but now you can enjoy a proper dine-in experience at their new restaurant in the Flon. Don’t let the random location deter you (yes, it’s located in the bowling alley) – Walter and his crew have transformed the space and are ready to take you on a journey to Mexico one taco at a time. The tacos are made to order, the service is exceptionally friendly, and the vibe is fun. TLG Tip: Try the steak tacos and ask for their habanero sauce (the one behind the counter).

Arctic Juice

Yes we know it’s not new, but Arctic Juice will finally be welcoming customers to take a load off and find a seat to enjoy their fresh juices, smoothies, coffees and lunchtime offers. The chain of cafés originated in the Alps, and focuses on empowering clients to live a healthy and sustainable lifestyle. First open in Lausanne this past spring, it originally only offered takeaway but has finally gotten the approval to be a dining space starting Monday the 21st of November 2022.
