After a year of hibernation, Swiss Christmas markets are back again this year: the decorations, the scent of vin chaud, the festive atmosphere – we can’t wait!
Check out the local Christmas markets’ opening dates and our curated list of events for this week:
Christmas markets:
- Bô Noël, Lausanne’s beloved Christmas market, is back and ready to share some holiday cheer!
The event will open on November 18 at 17h45 with a massive parade through La Cité and down to Le Flon. For the rest of the season, you can enjoy Christmas activities across seven different areas of the city. COVID passes will be required for any dining areas, but there are still zones accessible for those without a pass. - Montreux Noël from November 19 to December 24. A new highlight this year, too: from November 26 there will be an ice-skating track through brightly lit Winter Wonderland.
- Vevey Noël starts on November 20 in Place Scanavin. You will find themed activities every Saturday and workshops for children every Wednesday.
This week:
- Join a guided visit on Tuesday organized by Amis de la Cité and learn all about Lausanne’s tower watchman tradition. If you missed it, we recently interviewed our city’s first ever female night watchman!
- Reading from Gloria Steinem chronicles at Palace Rumine on Thursday
