For the next two months, it's worth the (very short) trek to Montreux where you will encounter a new fusion cuisine sure to spice up your dinner experience. Merging Japanese and Peruvian cuisine, the Nikkei Nine pop-up restaurant at the Fairmont Le Montreux Palace is your chance to travel with your tastebuds - no passport required.
After 2018, the Fairmont Le Montreux Palace is partnering again with the Nikkei Nine Restaurant in Hamburg to bring Japanese-Peruvian fusion cuisine to the Swiss Riviera. Since October 7th, Kai Weigand, Nikkei Nine chef at the Fairmont in Hamburg, introduced his beautifully cooked cuisine to the area by the brigade led by Frédéric Gardette, executive chef of the Fairmont in Montreux.
Within the former MP’s restaurant, the Nikkei Nine offers an elegant cocoon with dim lights and candles. At the entrance, the bar will present you with delicious cocktails or mocktails.
Have you ever tried Japanese-Peruvian Fusion dishes? Every plate is fresh and surprising with intense flavors. For example, you will find some classics from Latin America like the scallop ceviche with a Japanese twist of lemon sudashi.
Among the starters, we also recommend lobster gyozas and their spicy broth. As a main dish, the Patagonian toothfish with the yuzu Amarillo sauce or the duck breast embellished by a blood orange teriyaki will delight your taste buds.
The brigade also works Wagyu beef on tapioca crackers or Oysters à la Chalaca if you’re into those kinds of indulgent dishes. To end on a sweet note, we recommend the Nashi pear and Dulche de Leche.
The restaurant is open from October until December 31st and only at dinner time and every Friday and Saturday, a DJ will bring an extra dose of fun.
Every dish is priced à la carte or you can take the “Signature Menu” with 5 dishes for 125CHF per person.
