Bondi Empanadas
Sometimes simple, is better. Bondi Empanadas certainly embodies this philosophy with their minimalist menu of traditional Argentinian empanadas (try the carne piquante), beer and wine – plus a couple dessert options for good measure. Check out their offerings of local natural wines from their neighbor, Mosto.
Arctic Juice & Cafe
It’s a chain that we’ve experienced in Verbier and Montreux – and now they’re in the center of Lausanne. Setting out to ‘redefine the cafe experience’ Arctic specializes in healthy, sustainably sourced food, coffee, and juices, all in a community-focused cafe setting.
GreenUp
We’ve loved this place for such a long time, and now they have a new second location on Rue Marterey. It’s healthy but oh so flavorful – the use of fresh & seasonal ingredients and the variety of items you can add to your bowls and wraps is delightful.
La Madeleine
1/3 café, 1/3 bookshop, and 1/3 chillout space, Madeleine is the perfect spot to sit, sip and dive into a new book. They also offer workshops, events and activities for children.
Le Perchoir Rooftop-Bar
Le Perchoir opened in autumn 2020, so while not necessarily ‘new’, it’s a spot that’s still gaining traction and visibility on the Lausanne scene. Set atop the University of Lausanne, Le Perchoir may seem like a student bar, but the view and location is worth the visit even if you graduated long ago.
Hungry Bear Kitchen + Coffee
Just this past spring, the team behind Sleepy Bear has awoken their ravenous cousin, Hungry Bear. This stylish space recently housed the Crêperie de Grancy and has now been converted into Lausanne’s newest breakfast, lunch, or dinner spot. Go for the gorgeous space and delicious menu, stay for the Petite Arvine.
