Ask any long-time resident of Lausanne about their favorite memory at Luna Park, and you’re sure to get a smile, a laugh, a blush, or maybe all three.
It’s one of those markers in the calendar that signals the start of summer when you begin seeing the trucks and slightly questionable rides descend upon Ouchy at the end of May. The temporary structures with haphazard spray-painted faces of ‘80s movie stars fading into a desert sunset are juxtaposed with views of our pristine lake and Alps. It may be kitschy, and the carnival food may be overpriced, but it’s one of those ‘forever young’ experiences that allow just about anyone to be a kid, if only for a day.
Rides vary in terms of price, based on the complexity (read: how vomit-inducing it is), but you can be sure that there’s something for all ages including younger children, or those who may want to skip on losing their lunch. We also highly recommend the ferris wheel; the views of the lake from the top can’t be beat!
