Audrey Hepburn: from Hollywood to Morges

This exhibition traces Audrey Hepburn’s career from Hollywood to Morges.

1951: a young actress, Audrey Hepburn, arrives in Hollywood. After a few roles in minor films, she is quickly noticed by big directors such as William Wyler, with whom she will shoot « Roman Holiday ». The film was a huge success and Audrey Hepburn was awarded an Oscar for best actress at only 24. In 1954, the film « Sabrina » won the Oscar for best costume design thanks to the skills of Hubert de Givenchy. Audrey Hepburn will play in nearly 30 films and receive four Oscar nominations.
After about 15 years of filming, Audrey Hepburn left cinema to spend time with her family and work with UNICEF. She married actor Mel Ferrer in 1954 and had her first son, Sean Ferrer, with him. Her second marriage took place in the media spotlight in 1969 to an Italian psychiatrist, Andrea Dotti. A second son, Luca Dotti, was born. Audrey Hepburn will spend her later years in the house she bought in Tolochenaz and died there on 20 January 1993.
