Bô Noël 2022 Returns with New Surprises

With a global pandemic somewhat behind us but an energy crisis looming, we all can’t help but wonder how this year’s most festive celebration will be impacted. But have no fear – despite the challenges, this year’s Christmas festivities will be full of cheer and plenty of new surprises. So what’s in store for Bô Noël 2022?

The Big Parade

Mark your calendars for Saturday November 19 at 18h for the grand opening parade which will set off at the Esplanade de la Cathédrale and make its way to Place de l’Europe. A cross-generational and cross-cultural mix of participants, there will be bells and drums and carriages and of course – Santa himself.

The Return of the Ferris Wheel

Don’t look for it this year in Place de l’Europe – rather cast your eyes higher…up to la Cité. This year the historic Place du Château will be hosting the star attraction – the Grand Roue will be installed on the hilltop offering visitors an incredible panoramic view of Lausanne and the roofs of La Cité. After a ride on the wheel, warm up at the Igloo du Terroir with a fondue.

New for 2022

Hidden in the gardens of the Musée Historique Lausanne will be Bô Noël’s DUPLEX ROOM – an ephemeral hotel room where you can spend a romantic and dreamy night with one of the best vantage points in the city.

Also make sure not to miss all of the gastronomic offerings throughout the city – particularly the Marché des Papilles in Place de l’Europe, which will be a covered food court this year.

Other new surprises this year will be Bô Game – an app you can download on yoru phone as of November 17 that will challenge you to walk around different markets and collect badges and prizes. There will be a daily drawing that rewards you with a voucher for a hot drink or fondue!

Old Favorites

Don’t worry, the classic Bô Noël favorites will be back too. The Boutique des Createur.trices will no longer be at Place Pépinet but will instead move to Place du Château, and the Village des Enfants will be hosting plenty of activities for the littles at the Esplanade de la Cathedrale. You’ll also hear the clipclopping of hooves again with the Calèches apéro or fondue, which be sure to reserve WAY in advance as these are almost always complet.

Efforts to Conserve Energy

You’ve read and heard about the different ways that energy will be saved this winter in Switzerland, and Bô Noël is no exception. Their main goal is to reduce the electrical consumption by 20% while still maintaining the magic of the moment. This means that lights will be turned off between 23h00 and 11h30 and beverage fridges turning off at night.
