This weekend, after 5 years of construction and a total transformation of the area next to the train station, Lausanne’s cultural hub, Plateforme 10, is taking a huge leap forward with the transfer of keys ceremony to the MUDAC and the Musée d’Elysée.

Designed by architects Francisco and Manuel Aires Mateus, this newest building will house both museums and it joins the MCBA, which opened at the train station in 2019, thus completing the main elements of the Lausanne Arts District.

To celebrate this occasion, the new building will only be open to visitors on Saturday November 6th and Sunday November 7th, free of charge, offering the occasion to explore the museum empty, without distraction and highlighting its architectural elements. In order to contextualize the space, renowned Swiss American artist Christian Marclay will exhibit a site specific installation entitled Unpacking that will officially be the first artwork to grace the museums’ new home. After this weekend the building will close again until the official opening of both museums on June 15, 2022, therefore, this is your only opportunity to explore this new, transformative neighborhood of Lausanne before the summertime! Don’t miss out! The building will be open on Saturday from 10h until 1 in the morning and on Sunday from 10h until 22h with guided visits about the architecture planned every 30 minutes between 11h and 16h. In addition, the MCBA is open for free this weekend with the same hours and their exhibition by the internationally known contemporary artist Francis Alÿs should not be missed!
