Before you had to line up on Saturdays at Riponne in order to get Angelucci’s fresh pasta and cut-to-order dried meats and cheeses. But now, you can enjoy a flavorful taste of Italy at their brick and mortar restaurant, where an expert chef and friendly staff make you feel (and eat) like you would at home…if home was your nonna’s kitchen, that is. Discover Farmacia Angelucci, an old pharmacy converted into your next favorite Italian resto.
Perhaps it has been open for many months, but it wasn’t until last weekend that the stars aligned and we found ourselves nestled on the sidewalk terrace of Farmacia Angelucci. Located in the dynamic and ever-changing sous-gare neighborhood close to our friends at BEAT fitness and Ça Passe Créme, you may recognize the name from the popular market stall Angelucci’s at Riponne on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. Every week, eager foodies wait in line for charcuterie, cheese, antipasti, and fresh pasta to enjoy at home — and now we can enjoy it in a delightful restaurant setting (and the pressure’s off – it’s cooked by the experts themselves).
Open from 9 am until 8 pm, and serving lunch from 11:30 am until 2:30 pm, it’s a one-stop-shop for either filling up your fridge with dried meats, cheese, or fresh pasta or filling up your belly with made-to-order pastas, salads, focaccias and puccias from their lunch menu. We love that their hand-written suggestions of the day are short – a sign that they change their offerings regularly and are able to do a few things very very well.
We began our culinary journey with the antipasti planchette; melt-in-your-mouth prosciutto and salami, marinated artichokes and aubergine, and perfectly crispy yet airy focaccia. We then continued with two pasta suggestions of the day: the amatriciana made with crispy guanciale and slow-cooked beef bolognese while the kids enjoyed the focaccia pizzas. The freshness of the pasta combined with the comforting flavors was absolutely delightful — and the portions extremely generous. We can imagine coming back for an aperitivo on the terrace, as well as spending some cozy winter afternoons inside their beautiful and intimate space. If the stars haven’t aligned for you to try Farmacia Angelucci yet, maybe it’s time to align them for yourself. You (and your taste buds) won’t regret it.
