We are confronting the end of those long Swiss summer evenings–the sun is bidding adieu earlier each day forcing us to come to terms with the many uncertainties that this autumn will bring. But passing by the terrace of Lucha Libre on a Tuesday night makes us pause and smile. This time, however fleeting, should be celebrated and savored–and that’s exactly what happens when you drink and dine at Lucha Libre.
Lucha Libre is like a love letter to Latin America written by three friends. They’ve managed to combine their travel inspirations with their hospitality know-how from EHL and created a space that is warm, welcoming, and just downright fun.
The menu is full of unfamiliar dishes that all boast fresh or bold flavors (and will make you want to roll your ‘r’s’). The walls are painted by local artists, all of whom are connected to or have a heart for Latin America in some shape or form. There’s a unity or camaraderie that’s difficult to describe when you enter–as if we’re all going on this gastronomic voyage together, pisco sours in-hand.

A few TLG tips:
- They have expanded their outdoor space since Covid, almost over-taking the entire top of Rue Marterey. The ambiance is lovely outside, with lots of energy but still socially distanced.
- Order the Tostones to start–a delicious fried plantain topped with crumbled queso.
- Their Mezcalita (a margarita with a smokier flavor from the mezcal) and their pisco sours are on point.
- The Pollo and Pulpo a la Parilla are must-orders.
- They host a special Salsa and tapas evening on Sunday evenings with a reduced menu–and yes, that’s salsa DANCING.
- Reservations are still highly recommended and can be done online on their website.
