February 18 – 24, 2019

We really don’t want to jinx it, but this entire weekend we couldn’t help but wonder if winter has bid us an early adieu. We know this weather is most likely a little spring tease, and we’ll most likely be under a blanket of snow in a few weeks…but wow, what a delightful tease it is. The sunshine continues for the foreseeable future, so let’s profit while we can! Enjoy the sunny week, and look out for the ‘supermoon’ on Tuesday–it seems that our children are already feeling the effects #circus.

FYI: The Musée de la Main is collaborating with the mudac as they interpret the same theme of scent in very different ways. Check out their ‘parallel’ exhibitions, Quel Flair! Odeurs et Sentiments (MdlM–and on until 23 Feb, so hurry!) and Nez à nez: Contemporary Perfumers (mudac–on until 16 June).

Tuesday

Vernissage: Check out the new exhibit at Musée de Élysée featuring photographers Martine Franck and Vasantha Yogananthan

Lausanne versus Lugano on the ice! Mix it up a bit and head to a local hockey match–go Lions!

Are you a babyfoot (foosball) champion? Make it official at The Lacustre during their Babyfoot Tournament.

It’s Happy BAO’hour again, so if you missed it last week, you’ve got this week and next left to try out their delicious deal of 3 baos, a glass of wine/beer for 18 CHF.

Have a child who is or will be studying under the IB (International Baccalaureate) program? Then head to this free seminar at Gotham that will aim to help parents understand how your child can thrive in the IB program.

Friday

If only every morning could be so creative. It’s time again for one of our favorite monthly meet-ups: Creative Mornings! This month’s theme is Symmetry and features Raphaël Lutz, great grand-son of one of the EHL founders. He launched his first start-up at the age of 17, then a clothing brand at 19, and a furniture brand at 21.  Now he’s known as founder of the LAB here in Lausanne, and he’s sharing his creative insights with all of us…FOR FREE. Grab your tickets before they’re gone here.

If you can’t wait for our own Carnaval, head over to Evian this weekend and get in party mode! Live music also on Saturday morning.

If you’re currently heading into the “start-up” sector (especially in tech), consider checking out this workshop. It’s a great way to gain some insight and test out your ideas before (or while you’re) taking the plunge into the deep end!

Saturday

Beer, empanadas, music, great people…what’s not to love? La Datcha is hosting their first “Soirée dégustation” focusing on brews from Hordeum and empanadas from El Gaucho…plus music from Gipsy Tonic!

If you have kids (or are a kid at heart!), this weekend’s Lausanne joue” avec vous event is not to be missed! Sponsored by the city, partnering with all the ludotheques (games libraries) in Lausanne, and held at the Casino de Montbenon, the focus is games, games, games. And it’s free!

Looking to beef up your photography skills? Then you may want to check out this Intensive Photography course for beginners here in Lausanne given by the Swiss Photo Club.
