There was a moment over eight years ago, when the cursor quivered across the screen—a calculated hesitancy to click ‘publish’ on our very first article. We knew our readership was limited, we knew our opinions were subjective, but we also knew that what we wanted to create was a resource that didn’t exist in that space at that time. So, we chose to take the leap. We recognized that our genuine curiosity, our desire to understand, unpack, and engage with Lausanne meant we couldn’t dabble in the shallow end of the pool anymore. Dipping our toes in meant we only encountered a small fraction of all this city had to offer. Our cursor steadied, we clicked, and we felt the thrill of the deep waters for the first time.
What we never anticipated was that 8 years later, we would have a solid community of readers that have become like extended family here in Lausanne. The hundreds of connections, the countless conversations, the hearty meals, the festive events, and the (sometimes literal) blood, sweat and tears have gone into forming what for us, is like an extension of ourselves—and it’s time to jump again.
We knew it was time to refresh our site. Eight years is a long time; interfaces grow tired, styles change, and frankly, we consume information differently than we did before. Though you will discover some helpful new features on our site like our Directories and our curated Calendar, the ethos and core mission will remain the same: community. Our goal is to continue discovering the people and places that make Lausanne this extraordinary place we get to call home. A place that all of those years ago, inspired us to jump in and experience a fullness that we hope we can encourage you to experience too.
